Today was the first Kidznotes concert I attended as executive director. Our Durham students performed the music they have learned and rehearsed over the last three weeks in their summer camp at E.K. Powe Elementary. As I said to our audience today, I don’t know who has learned more over the last three weeks: the students, or myself. One thing I love about our concerts is the progression on display for the audience. We begin with students who are brand new on their instruments playing Twinkle, Twinkle or Hot Cross Buns, and we finish with our Vivaldi Orchestra playing the music of their namesake. It’s moving and compelling to see it all in the span of one hour. In case you couldn’t make it, here are some pictures I snapped of the afternoon. Bravi tutti!
