(Philadelphia, PA), Soundscapes (Newport News, VA), Tuned In (Baltimore, MD), and Tune Up Philly (Philadelphia, PA). Check out photos from this fantastic event!

This year’s epic Triangle Corporate Battle of the Bands is dedicated to the original rock stars. The ones who made long hair, tight pants and cranking it to fortissimo cool long before electricity was even invented. That’s right. This year, the Battle is getting a touch of classical, as we rock out in support of the radical rapscallions of KidZNotes! So dust off your tux, practice your scales and get ready to Rachmaninoff.

Join us for the Battle Launch Party on May 9th from 5:30-7pm at Bay 7, American Tobacco Campus. It is sure to be great fun!

Get ready to salsa with KidZNotes as we proudly announce the KidZNotes 2nd Annual Gala: Celebrating the Children of Durham. This festive celebration will be held on May 2, 2012 at the Carolina Theatre in downtown Durham.
 
Check out this sneak peek of our gala! 
Honorary co-chairs, Philip Freelon of the Freelon Group and Nnenna Freelon and Steve Daniels of ABC-11 Eyewitness News and Kristen Daniels along with other guests, such as the Consul General of Mexico Carols Flores Vizcarra, County Commissioner Brenda Howerton and City Council member Howard Clement will join us in celebrating the 2nd year of KidZNotes in the Durham community.

 
Guests will enjoy a night of Latin-inspired food, dance, and music. The atmosphere will be vibrant and bold, infused with the passion and energy of Latin culture. Guests will enjoy a variety of Latin inspired hor d’oeuvres provided generously by local Triangle restaurants. The KidZNotes Orchestra will perform alongside six-time GRAMMY® Award-nominee vocalist Nnenna Freelon. In addition, there will be a silent auction, a Wall of Wine, and a chance to learn how to Salsa dance on the stage of the Carolina Theatre!
 
KidZNotes, which is modeled after Venezuela’s highly successful El Sistema program, uses the transformational power of classical music to help build new futures for children, targeting those who would otherwise be blocked by economic and social barriers. Established in 2010 in East Durham, KidZNotes enriches the lives of elementary school students and their families through music. Participants in the program learn to play violin and receive free orchestra training in a safe environment that emphasizes fun, joy and teamwork in learning as well as musical accomplishment.
 
Tax-deductible tickets to the gala are $100 each and sponsorship opportunities are still available starting at $500. Tickets and sponsorships can be purchased online at www.kidznotes.org/support-us/gala or by sending a check to 120 Morris Street, Durham, NC 27701. All proceeds from the KidZNotes gala will go towards funding the future of the KidZNotes program in Durham.
