Amazing first day at the Take a Stand Symposium in LA…kicked off with an inspiring opening address by Maestro Thomas Wilkins, Principal Conductor of the Hollywood Bowl, and finished with a stirring performance of Wagner by the LA Phil at the Hollywood Bowl. And yes, I technically did get a #Dudamelfie. But I will keep striving for a better one. Here’s my day in pictures:
Staying at the beautiful Biltmore Hotel. It’s not quite the NC Biltmore, but not too shabby either.
Walt Disney Concert Hall houses most of our sessions and performances.
And here’s the inside of the hall.
Marcus made first chair cello! Alex and I were so proud.
Afternoon sessions were held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Got to hear some great things about teacher support and professional development. Also got to eat these great fudge brownies at lunch. I may have had three.
Evening was spent at the Hollywood Bowl where we heard the LA Phil play Wagner. It’s like they custom designed the program just for me. Was so glad to spend the evening with Julia Crosson, one of our Raleigh Teaching Artists.
Technically, I did get a #Dudamelfie.
It was a divine night at the Hollywood Bowl. What an incredible end to an amazing day. Stay tuned for more to come!
