OneBeat is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and produced by Bang on a Can’s Found Sound Nation.  The two-year OneBeat  program was funded by a $1.25 million federal grant  to bring musicians from around the world for a residency and tour program in the U.S. The project’s co-director Elena Moon said the program was “about innovation and using music as a tool to reach other communities.”

The spirited line-up of performers, ranged from ages 19 to 34 were recruited through email and social media sites such as Facebook and others. They spent two weeks in Florida at the Atlantic Center for the Arts before embarking on a tour through the southern and eastern states. The tour started in Orlando (FL) and will end Oct. 6 in Brooklyn, New York.
