My musical journey began at the age of sixteen when I took my first violin lesson, a life-changing experience that sparked a lifelong passion for music. Inspired by my high school music teacher, Mr. John Edison, I dedicated my life to music as both an educator and a composer.
I studied at Howard University for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Music History. After teaching in Kenya, I completed additional graduate studies in Musicology and Composition at Duke University.
My career has included serving as Choir Director at Pine Forge Academy, Director of Choral Activities at the University of Eastern Africa in Kenya, String Orchestra Program Director at Durham School of the Arts, and Music Director at the Church of the Holy Family in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. From 2018 to 2025, I taught strings, music theory, and composition at the University of the Southern Caribbean in Trinidad, and served as chair of the music department from 2023-2025.
My compositions have been performed by ensembles such as the Duke University String School, the Ciompi String Quartet, the Durham School of the Arts String Orchestra, the Shaw University Choir, various choirs and orchestras at the University of the Southern Caribbean, as well as numerous school, church, and community groups.
