Our flagship site-based beginning violin program for grades 1-2.
Mozart Program Description
The Mozart Program is what started it all. It’s a violin program for beginners in first and second grade. We work with individual schools to host a Mozart program with the general music specialist and a Kidznotes violin instructor twice per week after school. Graduating Mozart students have the option to continue their studies at the Kidznotes Nucleo.
Accepted students receive instruments and all supplies needed to be successful in class while enrolled in the program.
Program Scheduale
On Mozart Program days (listed below), students will head to their school's music room immediately after dismissal. Instruction with their Kidznotes Mozart Teaching Artists will begin shortly thereafter.
The Fayetteville Street Elementary School Mozart Program will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30-4:00pm.
The Spring Valley Elementary School Mozart Program will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-4:30pm.
The tentative start date for the 2026-2027 Mozart Program will be Monday, November 9 for Fayetteville Street Elementary School students and Tuesday, November 10 for Spring Valley Elementary School students.
Eligibility
Students in grades 1-2
Students who are enrolled at Spring Valley Elementary School OR Fayetteville Street Elementary School in the Durham Public Schools.
Up to 20 students will be selected to participate at each site. Selection is prioritized for families who are eligible to receive free/reduced lunch according to NC Department of Education's income guidelines.
Mozart Program Cost
$50.00 per student annual fee
$25.00 for additional students in one family
