Musician Kenneth Stewart proudly straddles numerous musical styles on the cello and guitar. Born in Texas and raised in Arizona, Kenneth teaches strings, ensemble, and Mozarts for Kidznotes.
After completing a PhD with research focused on compositions for strings and live electronics, Kenneth turned his focus to more acoustic musical styles, particularly bluegrass and jazz. Additionally, he teaches strings, composition and improvisation at the Sharp Nine Gallery as part of the Durham Jazz Workshop and privately in his home studio in Durham, NC. As a bandleader, he presents mixed-repertoire shows at jazz clubs and rock venues - blurring the lines of musical categorization.
Dr. Stewart studied cello with Gordon Epperson and Nancy Green, composition with Dan Asia, Pierre Jalbert and Scott Lindroth, and conducting with maestro Martin Majkut. He holds degrees from Pima College, The University of Arizona, Rice University, and Duke University.
